We Know South America Cruising Best

Lost City of the Incas 5 nights / 6 days
featuring the luxury Orient-Express Hiram Bingham train

If your cruise starts or ends in Lima you can easily add this independent tour to Machu Picchu and Cuzco

To get to Machu Picchu from Cuzco you have two train options. You can use the Vistadome service or the very comfortable Belmond (Orient-Express) Hiram Bingham. We would always recommend the Hiram Bingham, with just 84 guests plus two dining cars and an observation carriage. It takes three hours to travel from Poroy or Rio Sagrado to Aguas Calientas with brunch served on the outward journey and a  four course dinner with cocktails and wines on the return

Day 1 - arrive Lima, transfer to the Sheraton or similar for two night stay

Day2 - after breakfast, take morning Lima City Highlights tour

Day 3- after breakfast, transfer to airport, air to Cuzco. Transfer to the Casa Andina Private Collection hotel or similar for 3 night stay, breakfast included

Day 4 - as Cuzco sits at over 11000 feet, use this day to acclimatise. A morning Cusco tour is included. Afternoon and evening at leisure

Day 5 - transfer to the rail station at Poroy* for your journey through the Sacred Valley aboard the Hiram Bingham. The train departs Poroy at around 09.00. On arrival in Aguas Calientas you will be transferred by coach, 25 minutes, the the entrance of the citadel of Machu Picchu. You will then take a 3 hour guided tour prior to taking afternoon tea at the Orient-Express owned Sanctuary hotel. You will return to rejoin the train, arriving back into Poroy at around 21.15. Transfer back to your Cuzco hotel

Day 5 - after breakfast, transfer to Cuzco airport for flight to Lima

Our Price -  £1490 per person

Alternative option: if you wish, you can stay an extra night to see more of Machu Picchu. On day 5 you can stay in Aguas Calientas for the night rather than returning to Cuzco, and then re-visit the ruins the next morning before reboarding the Hiram Bingham later that day -please ask for prices. Please note the Hiram Bingham does not operate on Sundays

* In the January to March period it is sometimes necessary to use Rio Sagrado or Urubamba station rather than Poroy

If you would like to experience the less expensive Vistadome service please call for details. If time is short, a 4 night / 5 day tour option is available - please call for details and prices

If your cruise begins or ends in Valparaiso you can take the same tour as above, but need to add a one way air ticket between Santiago and Lima or in reverse. Air fares within South America are always expensive, so please budget around £1690 to 1790 per person. Exact pricing will be provided dependent on actual dates required

IGUASSU, IGUAZU or IGUACU FALLS dependent of which wording you prefer
2 nights / 3 days from either Buenos Aires or Rio de Janeiro

From Buenos Aires
Day 1 - transfer from your hotel or the cruise terminal to the airport, fly to Iguazu, private car transfer across the border to the Belmond (Orient-Express)
Das Cataratas hotel for 2 night stay with breakfast included

Day 2 - after breakfast, tour to explore the Argentine side of the falls up close

Day 3 - after breakfast. a last chance to take in the panoramic views of the falls from your hotel,
private car transfer to airport, air return to
Buenos Aires

Aerolineas Argentinas and Lan operate flights throughout the day. The Das Cataratas is the only hotel located within the national park on the Brazilian side and is directly adjacent to the falls

It is also possible to visit the falls from Buenos Aires as a day excursion or with just a one night stay

From Rio d Janeiro
Day 1 - fly from Rio to Foz de Iguacu, private car transfer to the Belmond (Orient-Express )owned Das Cataratas hotel, 2 night stay including breakfast

Day 2 - after breakfast, cross the border to explore the Argentine side of the falls

Day 3 - after breakfast, one last chance to view the falls from the hotel, private car transfer to airport, air return to Rio

Tam operate just a couple of flights direct from Rio to Foz de Iguacu each day, so they are expensive and busy. There are  a number of other air services that involve stops en route and take far too long. It is not possible to visit the falls as a day excursion from Rio, albeit it is possible as a cruise ship excursion from other Brazilian ports of call such as Parati

Our Prices -  £800 per person for either of the above
